The End

At the end of all things old is the beginning of something new.

Lemony Snickett - A Series of Unfortunate Events

Lemony Snickett was a fairly decent movie. For a family movie it was quite enjoyable. I forget if I ever heard any negative commentary about it, but I ignored it as I knew it would be a good movie. I love Jim Carrey's character. The sense of humor and visual style of this movie was interresting. Each and every one of the unfortunate events had me on the edge of my seat. Definately worth seeing. I wouldn't recommend it if you're watching it alone in a serious mood however. Independent films are better for that kind of thing. If the audiobooks through audible, I might check them out.

Existence

Before I retire from blogging, at least for a few hours. I wanted to say Life is not meaningless. When you figure out what everybody has been telling you your whole life is bull, that doesn't mean life is nothing. It simply means you no longer have to follow the rules for living that were once imposed on you before. You can choose to define your own meaning. Even though that meaning is unfairly skewed by what you have been taught your whole life.

I usually agree with JoBlo. A lot of the time, he has good common man sense.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

This was a movie that I really thought could've been classic based on the trailer. I was so excited about it, especially since Mos Def was a main character. I checked out the website and it only increased my expectations. I got the audiobook with my Audible Listener account and loved it. The book was almost movie-like how it was written. It had fresh humor and perspective, along with interesting characters. No way could they screw this up. Any halfway decent director could've made a name for himself with this movie.

They did manage to screw the book up. All the characters were flat and unbelievable, and the changes from the book often times didn't make sense. A few of the changes made the whole thing a lot less believable. I've already chewed my wife's ear off about it and don't want to go on, so in short. Don't waste your money on this. Normally, I would endorse this movie, purely to support Mos Def, but it was just too bad. See the The Woodsman or and other of his movies if you want to see a good performance from Mos. Get the audiobook or book instead.

Even with all that, I'll probably end up getting a poster of Hichhiker's Guide to the Galaxy if they have any good one. All in all they'll end up getting around $30 dollars from me for my family's tickets and the possible poster, even though the movie wasn't that great.

bling-bling

bling-bling | 'bli NG , bli NG |
noun informal
expensive, ostentatious clothing and jewelry, or the wearing of them: behind the bling bling: are the diamonds worth it?

Origin 1990s: perhaps imitative of light reflecting off jewelry, or the jewelry clashing together.

Now that bling-bling is in the Oxford Dictionary, I don't know whether to be happy or upset. What's more, it not really a great definition. What's with all the perhaps stuff? Couldn't they call up the Cash Money Click and ask them what they meant?

Symmetrical Design. I can't like everything from my hands, but I appreciated the process. I bet this is what professional illustrators must feel being forced to do things they don't like.

I'm glad the semester is over.

Porn vs. Art: The Showdown

Can you tell which is porn or art? Click on the link to see if you guessed right.

Who would I like / hated to have been in a past life?

Writer's Digest Magazine "Writing Prompt for 4/27/2005
Who would you like to have been in a past life? Who would you have hated to be? Write a scene of dialogue between those two."

First off, I would say that I would liked to have been someone like Leonardo DaVinci, he was such a together guy, so many talents and so much intelligence. He was a person unspoiled by the rest of the world. I can't rightly say who I would've hated to be except some great military commander or something on the day the lost a really important battle. From then on, they are known for the rest of their lives as losers. I can't imagine how a conversation with Leonardo and Napolean would go. I'll have to think on that one.

Yet More on the Definition of Porn

Nudity Offends you? Don't click this link! Uncovered: Celebrating Women in New York City

This is another site sent to me on the subject of defining porn. The photographer says the women felt liberated posing in public. "Having covered themselves up for a lifetime, it is exhilarating to shatter the walls that society has placed around them."

I did feel like these photos felt carefree and capture the essence of their liberation. This could be defined as art...but, what if the photographer just like to see nude tits?

More on the Definition of Porn

Do not click on this link if nudity offends you. Nude beach movie downloads, videos, and pictures.

This link was sent to me in response to my Porn or Art piece. If what the creators of this site says is true, this stuff is real. Real, unstagged situations of women being comfortable with their bodies. Women being nude in public is perfectly natural, but the makers of this site have turn nature into porn by selling their nude images for $7.95 or something like that.

I don't know if I can say this is wrong or not. They are in public and unashamed of their bodies. None of these women appeat to be hiding, even when they realize they are being taped, but does that make it okay?

I guess perverts can turn anything into porn.

In my opinion, graffiti like this can be more of a "true" art the crap in the renaissance era. This artist did this for free, while the famous french guys got paid to do that over-bloated crap with convoluted meaning.

Porn or Art

From flickr.com, this particular person does alot of boob photographs. That made me think about whether this person thinks of this as art or pornography. To me, I don't see it's artistic value. It does look better than alot of porn, but I mean, wouldn't we all love better looking porn? Not really, I personally like my porn to look more down to earth. No better than the typical 70s and 80s variety. Most internet stuff does fine.

By Leo Tolstoy's definition, art should unite people. Something that presents experiences we can all share. So as you could say, experience the holocaust, without actually have been there. The result is supposed to be a cleansing of the spirit, or a catharsis.

I agree. This doesn't do anything for the upper reaches of my body. What it does is inspire lust. Or at most, make me appreaciate this woman's beauty. One could say the artist intent is not clear, but her naked breast are the focal point of this picture.

If I was to judge, I would say this is high class porn, but I'm not. I personally don't think there is anything wrong with the naked breast of woman or man. In fact why the heck do us Americans bother to wear such excessive clothing in the oddest conditions. What would be wrong with a woman that doesn't need a bra to go topless in 100° weather?

Peace.

I've know about blogging for quite some time, but I always thought they would cost me money. After receiving my first issue of Sketch magazine, including a membership, that comes with a free 20 word classified in each issue. I decided I should create a webpage or something, you know, just to have something to put in the classified. I ran (or surfed) around finding out more about blogs. I found Macintosh software for it and found this free service among others.

I plan on using this blog for sketches and other cool stuff. My life is dominated by college right now, but hopefully I should be able to update this thing regularly with graphics and actual creative progress. I used to think of myself as a jack of all trades of sort, but now I feel more busy and scatterbrained. Currently, I plan on producing an independent game for fun and finishing college. I'm even taking the first of a series of 3d Game Programming courses at Tulsa Community College in the fall. That should be fun. If I can hit the right groove, I'll start doing comics/webcomics regularly, but currently, that is in the works for after I graduate

Expect plans and me to talk big stuff. I'm ambitious and I don't really know my limits yet, but I'm learning.
